I am playing the Irish Open this weekend. I arrived yesterday in Ireland and play in the tournament in a few hours. I am looking forward to the live tourney as my online play has been really bad the past week. I started the month off with a quick start but have since had horrible results. I think I am down about 30-40k for the month, but I will have to double check since my play is across two computers.

It’s been very frustrating as I was up over 90k after three days of April. I don’t think I have played great the past week. No big games have been running so I have been playing 25/50 and 50/100. I think this has hurt my focus a bit as I don’t play as well after really big wins or after having played larger recently. I would expect about 30-40k of my losses to be tilt/poor play and the other 100k or so to be running way below expectation.

I don’t want to post all the beats as I don’t think that’s very productive for me, and it just makes it look like I am complaining. Here is one though to give you some idea of what I am talking about. There have been many times the past week where I just shake my head and cuss with frustration.

This year has been a great year and although I would like to think I am running at a sustainable winrate, it’s most likely this is a return to a more realistic winrate. I have spoken to some very good players in these games who feel 10 bb/100 is sustainable by the top players, but I don’t really think it is and my winning at 9bb/100 over 75k hands is a bit above what I think is realistic. I would guess the best players over 250k+ hands could only do 8bb/100 with little game selection. If they were to game select well then 10-12 could be possible, but it would take three or more years to get 250k hands in with that type of game selection.
